About me

I am a Hija de la Montaña (Daughter of the Mountain). My name is María José, but Majo or Mary is my favorite way to call me. I was born, raised, and live in Monteverde, Costa Rica. I am part of this forest, and this forest has been part of me for as long as I can remember.
I am an architect by profession and a ceramist by passion.
I love design in all its forms. I also daydream, living in my magical fantasy world, and that's where this project was born.
Hija de la Montaña is the combination of everything that inspires and motivates me: clay, creating with my hands, the shapes of the forest I inhabit, the magic I feel beyond what is seen, and living slowly and with intention.
Making ceramics is my meditation, my moment of connection with what is important to me and reminds me of the path of the heart. Each piece of ceramics is unique and is inspired by the blend of my connection with nature and the magical perspective with which I admire the mountains, the beings that inhabit them, and all their healing energy.
